Installation Considerations#
Dependencies#
AI Workbench automatically installs or updates the following dependencies:
Git and Git Large File Storage (LFS)
Container related dependencies
Docker, Docker Desktop, or Podman
NVIDIA Container Toolkit (required if you have a GPU)
If these dependencies are already installed, AI Workbench only updates them if needed.
NVIDIA GPU Drivers#
AI Workbench runs on both CPU-only systems and systems with NVIDIA GPUs. AI Workbench does not support systems with that use non-NVIDIA GPUs.
If you are using an NVIDIA GPU, you must have the appropriate GPU drivers installed on your system. The installation process for NVIDIA GPU drivers varies based on the following operating system:
For Windows:
If your system has an NVIDIA GPU, you must install the drivers manually
Use the NVIDIA App to install and manage your drivers
For Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04:
If NVIDIA GPU drivers are NOT installed, you will be prompted to install them automatically during setup.
If NVIDIA GPU drivers are already installed, AI Workbench uses the existing drivers and no updates occur.
